Aerohive Challenging Motorola And HP In Wireless
Aerohive Networks (NYSE:HIVE) is challenging rivals such as Motorola (NYSE:MSI), Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HPQ) and Juniper Networks (NYSE:JNPR) in the wireless networking equipment market as use of mobile devices explodes and companies look for better ways to manage usage growth.
That was the upshot from a presentation by David Flynn, Aerohive’s chief executive, at William Blair & Co.’s annual growth stock conference in Chicago on Thursday.
Aerohive is a fast-growing provider of wireless networking equipment serving mid-size and large companies. The company launched its IPO on March 28. Company shares rose nearly 3% on the stock market today.
In a report released Friday, William Blair analyst Jason Ader said Aerohive is leaving its rivals behind in better addressing the changing demands of wireless local-area networks not met by older legacy vendors.
“As a result, key issues, such as scale, access control, and applications require more advanced offerings that most wide area-local network vendors are not equipped to adequately provide, which is why several vendors are fading in the market, such as Motorola, HP, Meru Networks and Juniper,” he wrote. “As such, the midsize to large enterprise market has essentially become a three-horse race between Aerohive, Aruba Networks (NASDAQ:ARUN) and Cisco Systems (NASDAQ:CSCO).”
